Course Information
Since 10th September 2008 (Coaches / Minibus) and 10th September 2009 (HGV) all drivers whose main task is driving such vehicles professionally, must undertake periodic training each year to retain their CPC status. This involves attending one module (one day) each year for five years after which a driver CPC card will be issued by the Road Safety Authority (RSA). This training can only be delivered at RSA approved training centres and by RSA approved trainers. The attendance will be recorded by the training provider and uploaded to the RSA database.
Drivers who attained the relevant licence after the above dates must complete a driver CPC periodic training module within one year of their initial CPC qualification.
Initial Training
If you want to become a professional bus driver after the 10th Sept 2008 or a professional truck driver after the 10th Sept 2009 you will have to do an Initial Driver CPC examination.
The examination includes:
- Two hour multiple choice theory test
- Two hour case study theory test.
- 90 minute driving test
- 30 minute practical test
You can attend in RSA approved training centers to help you pass your Driver CPC examination.

Should you fail any part of the test you will have to re-sit that part of the test again.
